Question:

I was hoping there would be the choice of a one-month membership. Why can't we sign up for just one month?

Here's my answer:

I'm glad you brought that up because there's actually a reason for that!

Learning English can be a very vulnerable process for many. So often, people feel afraid to use the language, and they judge themselves too harshly, always worried about what others may think of their ability.

Without the commitment barrier in place, I'm sure we'll attract many more members (and I've seriously thought about it), but I also know that a good percentage of these people will join us purely out of curiosity.

Inviting casual spectators into the community derails my mission of creating a safe environment for bringing English to life, so I require a minimum commitment of time, and I reward longer durations with discounted rates; I believe that these measures help us bring in people who are truly serious about improving their English skills.
